Welcome to the 1st Annual YCS Juneteenth Arts Contest and Exhibition

To commemorate the 155th anniversary of Juneteenth, we invited the children at YCS to express their thoughts and feelings about ths holiday which marks the end of slavery.  Although June 19, 1865 is celebrated as the official end to slavery, the quest for social  justice, equal rights and equal opportunity for black and brown people in the United States is just as relevant today as it was then.

Through this exhibit, we are proud to share with you the children's unique insights on Junetheenth along with our hopes that this new generation can usher in a kinder, fairer society for all.
